Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki among provinces likely to receive showers

KATHMANDU, MAY 15 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast generally cloudy weather across the country today, with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several regions According to the Department, rainfall is likely at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, while a few areas in the remaining hilly and Himalayan regions may also witness showers. Isolated rainfall is also possible in the Terai. Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in Koshi Province as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Other parts of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. There remains a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi and parts of Bagmati and Gandaki, while isolated showers are likely in Madhesh Province and the Himalayan region of Karnali Province. Meteorological analysis indicates that the country is currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, including the Himalayan region, while the Terai remains partly cloudy. Among major cities, Kathmandu is expected to witness moderate rain with thundershowers, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 27°C during the day and dropping to 16°C–18°C at night. Similarly, Pokhara and Dhankuta are likely to experience moderate rainfall, while Biratnagar and Janakpur may see light to moderate showers. The Department has advised the public to remain cautious of possible thunderstorms and lightning, particularly in hilly and mountainous regions.
