Traffic police book 2,029 rule violators in a day
Drunk driving, speeding and signal violations among major offences

KATHMANDU, MAY 17 A total of 2,029 motorists were penalised for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the crackdown generated revenue of Rs 417,000 for the state treasury. Among the violations, 59 individuals were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, 119 for illegal ride-sharing, 132 for jumping traffic signals and 208 for overspeeding. Similarly, 57 motorists were penalised for lane indiscipline, 94 for unnecessary honking, 95 for improper parking and 126 for driving on one-way roads. A further 1,139 were booked for various other offences.
