Parliamentary hearing of proposed Chief Justice Sharma begins

KATHMANDU, MAY 19 The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has begun the hearing process for proposed Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma. The committee convened a meeting on Monday morning to review Sharma's work plan and complaints filed against him as part of the parliamentary hearing process. Committee Chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha said members would be able to question the proposed Chief Justice after reviewing the complaints, adding that lengthy deliberations may not be necessary and urging all sides to cooperate in advancing the process smoothly. A total of seven complaints have been lodged against Sharma at the committee. As per the constitutional provision, the President appoints the Chief Justice after endorsement by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee based on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.
