Another day of heat wave likely in Sudurpashchim, Lumbini
Moderate rain and thunderstorms predicted in hilly and Himalayan regions

KATHMANDU, MAY 22 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast continued heat wave conditions in parts of western Nepal, with Sudurpashchim Province likely to witness another day of extreme heat on Friday. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, heat wave conditions are likely in the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpashchim Province, while hot day conditions are expected in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini Province. The Division stated that partly to generally cloudy weather is likely across most hilly and Himalayan regions of the country. Moderate rain, thunderstorms and snowfall are also predicted at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as parts of Madhesh, Lumbini and Karnali provinces. Among major cities, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj and Dipayal are expected to record maximum temperatures between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. Birendranagar is likely to witness temperatures between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius. Kathmandu and Pokhara are likely to receive moderate rain with thundershowers, while similar weather conditions have been forecast for several eastern and central districts. The weather system is currently influenced by westerly and local winds along with a low-pressure area near the eastern part of the country, according to the Division.
