KATHMANDU, MAY 22 The Himalayan Times is all set to bring back one of Kathmandu's most anticipated lifestyle events with the 15th edition of the International Food Fest 2026. Popular artist and band Ujan Shakya wo: Emerge will headline this year's event alongside Kehar Limbu. The event will take place on May 23 at The Everest Hotel, Kathmandu, bringing together food lovers, families, young people, and brands for a day filled with food, entertainment, and experiences from around the world. Since its inception in 2002, the International Food Fest has grown into a signature annual celebration that showcases global cuisines, live music, interactive activities, and vibrant brand experiences under one roof. This year's edition promises an even bigger carnival-like atmosphere with 20 restaurants and exhibitors, a dedicated kids zone, a farmers market, exhibition stalls, and interactive experiences throughout the venue. Ujan Shakya is an established singer, songwriter, and music producer situated in Nepal, with his greatest hit being 'Maicha' alongside his band. The song became a massive hit after being uploaded on YouTube, accumulating millions of views and thousands of TikTok uses. The song represented a departure from conventional Nepalbhasa songs and showcased his first attempts at a modern Newa composition. Producing beats and melodies has been Shakya's passion throughout his career. He has built a strong presence across digital platforms, with his music resonating with audiences seeking fresh, contemporary takes on traditional Nepali music. The ability to blend modern production with cultural authenticity has made him one of Nepal's rising acts in the music industry. Visitors at this year's Food Fest can expect a dynamic performance from Ujan Shakya, featuring his signature fusion of traditional Newa sounds with modern production. Last year's edition saw more than 4,800 attendees, featured 16 restaurants and 20 exhibitors, and generated millions of views and engagements across digital platforms, making it one of Nepal's biggest food and lifestyle events.
