Govt suspends non-emergency health insurance services at private hospitals

KATHMANDU, MAY 27 The government has decided to suspend non-emergency health insurance services provided by private healthcare institutions under the government's health insurance programme from May 29 until further notice. Issuing a public notice on Tuesday, the Health Insurance Board said the decision was taken during its meeting held on May 25 in view of the worsening financial crisis faced by the board. According to the notice, only emergency services will continue at private health institutions affiliated with the national health insurance programme, while all other insured services will remain suspended from May 30. The board stated that the decision would remain effective until further notice.
