KATHMANDU, MAY 31 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy weather over Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces today, along with the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. Partly cloudy conditions are likely over Madhesh Province and the Terai areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. According to the DHM, moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. One or two places in Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may also witness rainfall and thunderstorms. Gusty winds are also likely at a few places in the Terai region of Lumbini Province. Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan region and across Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, while partly cloudy weather is likely in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini Province. The remaining Terai areas are expected to remain mainly fair. The department has forecast light to moderate rainfall and snowfall at a few places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces tonight. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the country is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure trough, local winds and a low-pressure line extending from west to east near Nepal.
