KATHMANDU, JUNE 1 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy weather in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country today, while the Terai region is expected to witness partly cloudy conditions. According to the DHM, moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Similar weather conditions are also expected at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in some parts of Sudurpashchim Terai. One or two places in the Terai regions of Koshi and Lumbini provinces may also receive rainfall with thunderstorms. Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are likely in the Himalayan region, while the hilly region is expected to remain partly cloudy and the Terai region mainly fair. The department has also forecast light rainfall and snowfall at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Sudurpashchim and Karnali provinces, and in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division said the country is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere along with local winds.
