Rain likely in hilly regions, hot weather to persist in Madhesh and eastern Terai

KATHMANDU, JUNE 2 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country today, while the Terai region is expected to remain partly cloudy. According to the DHM, moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions. One or two places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces may also witness rainfall and thunderstorms. The department has also predicted hot day conditions in Madhesh Province and the Terai region of Koshi Province. Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan region, while the hilly region will remain partly cloudy and the Terai region mainly fair. Light rainfall and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the Himalayan areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division said the country is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere along with local winds.
