KATHMANDU, JUNE 2 Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City Rajesh Man Singh has been arrested in connection with a forged document case. Singh was taken into custody from Thori in Parsa district on Monday morning, 10 days after the Parsa District Court issued an arrest warrant against him. According to District Police Office spokesperson Raju Karki, a special police team was mobilised to apprehend the mayor, who had been absconding following the court order. 'He will be presented before the court today,' Karki said. Mayor Singh has been accused of signing official documents related to birth registration, citizenship and passport issuance using forged information for a girl. The Parsa District Court had on May 22 directed police to arrest Singh and three others following a complaint filed by Liyakat Ali.
