Cabinet approves four decisions including AIG promotion, land commission appointments

KATHMANDU, JUNE 2 The government has approved four major decisions of the Council of Ministers, including the promotion of an Armed Police Force (APF) officer and appointments to the Land Problem Resolution Commission. A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday made the decisions, according to government Spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel. The Cabinet decided to promote APF Deputy Superintendent of Police Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) in the Armed Police Force. Similarly, the government approved the appointment of officials to the Land Problem Resolution Commission. Balbhadra Bastola of Kaski has been appointed as the commission's chairperson. Other members appointed to the commission include Amir Prasad Neupane of Kathmandu, Padmaniti Soti of Lamjung and Dr Rona Shrestha of Kathmandu. The Cabinet also decided to extend the term of a committee formed to study the report of the inquiry commission on the incidents that occurred during the protests of Bhadra 23–24, 2082 BS, by 45 days. In addition, the government approved an agreement under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) related to the implementation of the Montreal Protocol on the management and reduction of ozone-depleting substances.
