KATHMANDU, JUNE 3 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy weather in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country today, while the Terai region is expected to remain partly cloudy. According to the DHM, moderate rainfall and thundershowers accompanied by lightning are likely at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions. One or two places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces may also witness rainfall and thunderstorms. The department has also predicted snowfall in some high Himalayan areas. Hot day conditions are likely to persist in Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan region, while the hilly region will remain partly cloudy and the Terai mostly fair. Light rainfall and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi Province and in the Himalayan areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the country is currently under the partial influence of an upper-level western trough and local winds.
