KATHMANDU, JUNE 5 The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) has found more than 6,700 government employees failing to report to office on time during nationwide surprise inspections. According to NVC Information Officer Sarita Khatiwada, the centre has been carrying out checks at around 10 government offices daily through five monitoring teams since the start of the current fiscal year. The inspections covered attendance records, office discipline, uniforms and file management systems, she said. In total, 1,130 offices have been inspected so far, during which 6,710 employees were found not adhering to official duty hours. Similarly, 1,162 employees were found not wearing proper uniforms. Khatiwada said some offices were inspected multiple times and action has been recommended against employees violating rules. Under the Civil Service Act, employees receiving two warnings are subject to departmental action. The NVC said it is conducting monitoring across all seven provinces as part of efforts to improve discipline and governance in public offices.
