Over 104 kg of marijuana seized from Indian SUV in Sunsari

KATHMANDU, JUNE 15 Police have seized more than 104 kilograms of marijuana from an Indian-registered SUV involved in a road accident in Sunsari district. According to Nepal Police, the BR31P6651-registered Scorpio SUV heading from Chatara towards Nadaha met with an accident after crashing into a roadside tea shop shed at Nadaha Chowk of Barahakshetra Municipality-3 along the Madan Bhandari Highway at around 1:55 am on Monday. A police team deployed to the site following the incident recovered 104.855 kilograms of marijuana concealed in four plastic sacks inside the vehicle during inspection. The seized contraband and the vehicle have been kept at the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, Sunsari. Police said the driver fled the scene after the accident and a search operation, along with further investigation into the case, is underway.
