Bangladesh envoy pays courtesy call on Speaker Aryal

KATHMAND, JUNE 18 Bangladesh Ambassador Md. Shafiqur Rahman paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal at Singha Durbar on Wednesday. During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated Speaker Aryal on his appointment and conveyed greetings from the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament. He also thanked Nepal for its support to Bangladesh during recent elections for the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Both sides discussed strengthening Nepal–Bangladesh relations, highlighting areas such as energy, trade, tourism, agriculture, education, food security, women's empowerment, youth development, and people-to-people ties. The ambassador underscored the need to deepen regional cooperation through SAARC and BIMSTEC, while expanding trade, investment and connectivity in South Asia. On the occasion, Speaker Aryal appreciated Bangladesh's rapid economic progress and infrastructure development, noting that Nepal could benefit from its development experience. He also stressed stronger youth engagement through sports, cultural exchange and tourism. Referring to shared climate risks in the Himalayan and coastal regions, the Speaker called for enhanced regional cooperation in environmental protection and disaster mitigation. He also appreciated Bangladesh's continued support for Nepali students in medical and technical education.
