Five foreign women arrested for alleged public solicitation

KATHMANDU, JULY 2 Police have arrested five foreign women from Thamel area in Kathmandu for allegedly engaging in obscene activities and misbehaving with police personnel during an operation. According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the women-four Ugandan nationals and one Indonesian national-were detained by a team from the Lainchaur Police Circle. Police said the women were allegedly stopping domestic and foreign male tourists on the streets of Thamel, negotiating for obscene activities and causing public nuisance. Spokesperson for the District Police Range Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, said the suspects also behaved indecently towards police officers when they were being questioned and advised by the patrol team. Police have launched further investigation into the case.
