Indian national arrested with over 102 kg of marijuana in Parsa

Police in Parsa have arrested an Indian national after seizing more than 102 kilograms of marijuana concealed inside a sports utility vehicle bound for India during a late-night operation.

BIRGUNJ, JULY 6 Parsa Police have arrested an Indian citizen in possession of 102.636 kilograms of marijuana during a special operation in Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality. According to the District Police Office, Parsa, the seizure was made at around 11 pm on Sunday after police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted an India-registered vehicle travelling towards the border via an inner road in Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality-2. A search of the vehicle bearing registration number BR 01 CU 3544 led to the recovery of 102.636 kg of marijuana concealed in 10 separate packages. The arrested suspect has been identified as Guddu Verma, 32, a resident of Nawalpur in Bettiah district of Bihar, India. Police spokesperson Raju Karki said the vehicle, the seized marijuana and the driver have been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act. Authorities said legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated.
