BIRGUNJ, JULY 7 The Madhesh Province Ministry of Labour and Transport said it has taken note of a viral video allegedly showing officials, including the acting chief of the Bara Transport Management Office, assaulting a service seeker inside the office premises. The video, widely circulated on social media, appears to show Acting Office Chief Chintan Acharya and several staff members involved in a physical altercation with a visitor who had reportedly come to process a driving licence-related service. The footage shows the visitor speaking with officials before attempting to record a video on a mobile phone. A dispute then ensues, during which an employee appears to push the visitor while Acharya is seen grabbing him by the neck. Other staff members also appear to join the scuffle before police intervene. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around the third week of Falgun. The office identified the service seeker as Arun Kushwaha. Acharya claimed Kushwaha had introduced himself as a journalist and had visited the office regarding driving licence procedures for his wife and sister-in-law. He alleged that the visitor verbally abused staff, leading to the confrontation. He also maintained that the viral clip shows only part of the incident and said both sides had reached a settlement after the altercation. Acting Ministry Secretary Ranjit Yadav said the ministry had taken the matter seriously after the video surfaced and that discussions would be held regarding the incident. The episode has raised questions over staff conduct, accountability in public service delivery and the safety of service seekers at government offices.
