KATHMANDU, JULY 8 Proton's globally recognised e.MAS 5 electric compact SUV is set to make its debut in Nepal, with authorised distributor Jagdamba Motors announcing plans to launch the model in the domestic market soon. Developed through Proton's partnership with Chinese automotive giant Geely, the fully electric SUV combines advanced EV technology, smart features and practical design aimed at urban mobility. The e.MAS 5 recently won the Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026 title at Malaysia's Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards, receiving recognition for its design, electric powertrain, practicality and everyday usability. The vehicle offers several storage features, including a 70-litre front trunk, a 28-litre under-seat compartment and a 20-litre storage space beneath the centre console. According to Jagdamba Motors, the launch reflects Proton's strategy of bringing globally tested electric vehicles to the Nepali market as demand for EVs continues to rise. The company said the e.MAS 5 combines Geely's EV technology with Proton's engineering expertise and is expected to offer a balance of technology, safety, practicality and value for money. The company, however, has yet to announce the vehicle's price or official launch date.
