Remittance inflow surges 38.2% to Rs 2.12 trillion in 11 months

KATHMANDU, JULY 14 Nepal received Rs 2.12 trillion in remittances during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, marking a 38.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank. The central bank's latest Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report shows remittance inflows reached Rs 2.1208 trillion by mid-June, up from the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In mid-June alone, remittance inflows totalled Rs 203.89 billion, compared with Rs 176.32 billion in the same month last year. The report also shows net secondary income (net transfers) rose to Rs 2.321 trillion, compared with Rs 1.669 trillion in the corresponding period a year earlier. According to the NRB, 367,211 Nepalis obtained first-time labour permits for foreign employment during the review period, while 355,735 renewed their labour permits.
