KATHMANDU, JULY 15 Police arrested two people in possession of more than 109 kg of marijuana in Makwanpur, seizing the contraband from a jeep travelling along the East-West Highway. The arrested have been identified as 41-year-old Suman Tamang and 18-year-old Iroj Tamang, both residents of Kiran Chowk in Gajuri Municipality-7, Dhading. Police intercepted the vehicle (Ba Pra 01-026 Cha 4893) at Simpani in Manahari Rural Municipality-8 while it was travelling from Chitwan towards Hetauda, acting on a special tip-off. A search of the jeep uncovered 109.096 kg of marijuana concealed in 15 plastic-wrapped packages hidden under a tarpaulin in the rear section. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
