13-year-old drowns in water-filled pit in Hetauda

HETAUDA, JULY 18 A 13-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled pit near Karra Khola in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-6, Makwanpur, on Saturday. The victim, Yukesh Rai, son of Keshav Rai of Hetauda-17, had reportedly gone swimming with four or five friends when he drowned at around 1:10 pm. Police from the Chaughada Police Post reached the site after receiving information about the incident. A search operation was launched with the help of local residents, with teams from the District Police Office, Makwanpur; the Bagmati Province Disaster Management Police Unit in Hetauda; and the Armed Police Force also joining the search and rescue effort. The boy was found at around 2 pm at the spot where he had drowned and was rushed to Hetauda Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared him dead at around 2:25 pm. The body has been kept at Hetauda Hospital, while police are investigating the incident.
