DHADING, JULY 20 The Muglin–Kathmandu road section has been blocked again after a landslide accompanied by falling rocks struck the Jhawang Khola area in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 of Dhading on Sunday. According to the District Police Office, Dhading, debris and rocks continue to fall from the hillside, making it difficult for authorities to clear the obstruction and reopen the highway. The closure has left hundreds of passenger buses and cargo vehicles stranded along the busy highway, a key link connecting Kathmandu with the rest of the country. Police said dozers have been deployed to remove the debris, but the continuous rockfall from above is likely to delay reopening efforts. Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal, information officer at the District Police Office, said clearance work is underway, but the road is expected to remain blocked until the falling rocks subside and the area is deemed safe for operations. The latest disruption comes amid persistent monsoon rainfall that has triggered landslides and road blockages at multiple locations along the Prithvi Highway and adjoining road networks. Authorities have urged travellers to exercise caution and seek updated road information before undertaking long-distance journeys.
