Woman injured in self-immolation attempt in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, JULY 21 A 27-year-old woman sustained burn injuries after allegedly attempting self-immolation in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. According to Kathmandu police, Salu Gurung, originally from Kavrepalanchok and currently residing in Gokarneshwor, allegedly poured petrol on herself and set herself on fire in a parking area behind her snack shop. She was initially taken to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu before being referred to the Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment. Police said she suffered burns to her face, chest and both hands, with approximately 50 percent of her body affected. An investigation into the incident is underway.
