KATHMANDU, JULY 21 Jagdamba Motors, the authorised distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, has launched the Proton e.MAS 5 electric SUV, marking the Malaysian automaker's second electric vehicle in the Nepali market. Unveiled at a ceremony in Kathmandu, the compact electric SUV is available in two variants-Prime and Premium-with introductory prices of Rs 2.999 million and Rs 3.499 million, respectively. The offer is valid for the first 100 customers. The e.MAS 5 comes equipped with a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a 70-litre front trunk and a 375-litre rear luggage compartment. Speaking at the launch, Akhil Gupta, Executive Director of Jagdamba Motors, said the new model reflects the company's commitment to expanding electric mobility options in Nepal. He said the vehicle combines advanced technology, practicality and premium features aimed at urban consumers. The launch event was attended by representatives of the Malaysian Embassy in Nepal, business partners, automotive industry stakeholders and media representatives. According to the company, the Proton e.MAS 5 recently received the 'Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026' award at Malaysia's Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards. Li Zhidan, Deputy Director of Proton International, said Nepal is an important market in Proton's international expansion strategy and expressed confidence that the e.MAS brand would strengthen its presence in the country's growing EV sector. The company said bookings for the new electric SUV have opened through Proton showrooms across Nepal.
