KATHMANDU, JULY 21 The British Council has announced the South Asia Teaching English Online Conference 2026, a free three-day virtual event aimed at helping educators explore how creativity, inclusion and technology can strengthen English language teaching and learning. Scheduled for July 23–25, the conference will bring together teachers, researchers and teacher educators from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to discuss approaches for preparing learners with skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and adaptability. According to the British Council, the conference will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and classroom case studies focusing on creative teaching methods, multilingual and inclusive classrooms, learner participation, and the use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in education. Speaking about the event, Rustom Mody, Country Director of the British Council Nepal, said creativity plays a vital role in helping learners develop the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world. He said the conference would provide educators with practical, research-informed strategies that can be adapted to different classroom contexts. The programme will feature education experts and English language teaching professionals from across South Asia, including representatives from Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The British Council said the conference is open to educators free of charge and is intended to support professional development and regional collaboration in English language education.
