BIRGUNJ, JULY 22 More than 400 saplings of various species were distributed and planted at Hari Khetan Multiple Campus in Birgunj under the 'One Home, One Plant' campaign, jointly organised by the Green City Community Service Centre and Community Police Service as part of the Community Police Partnership Programme. The event, which saw significant participation from college students, aimed to promote environmental conservation, urban greenery and climate change mitigation. Alongside sapling distribution, a collective plantation drive was conducted on the campus premises. Students were also encouraged to plant at least one sapling at their homes and ensure its proper care. The programme was chaired by Jay Prakash Khetan, President of the Green City Community Service Centre, Adarshanagar, while Indian Consul General in Birgunj, Devisahay Meena, attended as chief guest. Other participants included Hari Gautam, President of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries; Ramavatar Khetan, Chairman of Hari Khetan Multiple Campus; social worker Suresh Rungta; DSP Chakra Malla of the District Police Office, Parsa; Inspector Bikram Subedi, Chief of the Ward Police Office, Birta; and youth activist Dilip Karki. Addressing the gathering, Jay Prakash Khetan said environmental conservation has become one of the most pressing needs of the time, stressing that planting saplings alone is not enough without regular care and protection. Chief guest Meena said such initiatives send a positive message to society and urged youth to take an active role in protecting nature. Speakers highlighted the importance of building a clean and green city and strengthening cooperation between community police and local residents. The programme concluded with the distribution of more than 400 saplings and a collective plantation drive within the college premises.
