HETAUDA, JULY 26 Police in Makwanpur have arrested four people, including three Indian nationals, on charges of operating an online fraud network through messaging applications. The suspects were apprehended Thursday by a joint team from the District Police Office, Makwanpur, and the Area Police Office, Hetauda, following information that they were allegedly defrauding people online by luring victims with various offers. Those arrested have been identified as Indrajit Sarkar, 27; Saharshjit Sarkar, 20; Aman Raj, 23, all from Patna, Bihar, India, along with Deepak Bastola, 37, proprietor of Bastola Hotel in Hetauda–10. Police said preliminary investigation found the group used mobile devices to create networks on applications such as Telegram and WhatsApp to conduct financial transactions linked to the alleged fraud. The Makwanpur District Court has granted remand to investigate the suspects under laws relating to online fraud.
