Two motorcyclists killed in bus collision on Postal Highway in Kapilvastu

KAPILVASTU, JULY 26 Two motorcyclists died after a passenger bus collided head-on with their motorcycle along the Postal Highway in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-6, Kapilvastu, police said. The accident occurred when a Mid-West Janasewa Yatayat bus (Bhe 1 Kha 4552), travelling from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu, struck a Super Splendor motorcycle (Lu Pra 01-004 Pa 3856) coming from the opposite direction at Bimiya. Both riders sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Kapilvastu District Hospital in Taulihawa after a police team from the Pakadi Area Police Office reached the scene. Doctors pronounced them dead at 1:50 am on Sunday. Police said the identities of the deceased have yet to be established. Their bodies have been kept at the district hospital for post-mortem examination. The bus, the motorcycle and the bus assistant, 21-year-old Sunil Rana of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-5, Salyan, have been taken into custody. The bus driver, 28-year-old Shyam Kumar Kami of Gurbhakot Municipality-2, Surkhet, is in police custody in Rupandehi. Further investigation into the accident is underway, police said.
