KATHMANDU, JULY 30 The Diwakar Golchha Organisation on Wednesday marked its annual Founder's Day by organising community service programmes across Nepal, including free health camps, tree plantation drives and the donation of dialysis equipment, while commemorating the 72nd birth anniversary of late industrialist Diwakar Golchha. Programmes were held at the organisation's manufacturing facilities, corporate office in Kathmandu and branch offices to honour the legacy of Golchha, who was recognised with the Gorkha Dakshin Bahu award for his contribution to Nepal's industrialisation and entrepreneurship. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the organisation conducted free health check-ups and medical consultations for local residents, honoured outstanding employees, carried out tree plantation campaigns, distributed meals to schools and elderly care homes, and donated dialysis equipment to Kirtipur Hospital. In a statement, the organisation said it continues to uphold the late industrialist's vision of promoting industrial development and creating employment opportunities within Nepal. According to the organisation, industries established under Golchha's leadership manufacture products including galvanised sheets and pipes, jute goods, sugar, processed food, aluminium products, steel utensils, GI products, copper wire and electronics, providing employment to around 20,000 people. The organisation also highlighted the contribution of Hulas Steel Industries Ltd, Nepal's first steel manufacturing company, which has been producing galvanised sheets domestically for the past 45 years and has played a significant role in the country's industrial development. Through the Diwakar Golchha Foundation, the group said it has continued to support social welfare programmes and provide financial assistance to various organisations, reaffirming its commitment to contributing to Nepal's economic and social development.
