RAUTAHAT, JULY 30 Rautahat Police have urged the public not to post or share misleading photos and videos on social media linking the recent violence in Sunsari to incidents in the district, warning that those spreading rumours will face strict legal action. In a press release issued on Thursday, the District Police Office, Rautahat, said it had taken serious note of social media posts containing misleading content that could undermine peace, security and social harmony in the district. Police said some individuals had been circulating old photographs and videos taken during the Gen-Z movement on September 10, 2025 (Bhadra 24, 2082 BS), falsely presenting them as visuals from recent incidents in Rautahat. Authorities said an in-depth investigation into the matter had already begun. The district police urged the public not to post or share any information related to incidents without verifying facts and evidence, warning that the dissemination of false or misleading content on social media violates the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (2063 BS) and the National Penal (Code) Act, 2017 (2074 BS).
