RAUTAHAT, JULY 31 Political parties in Rautahat have jointly pledged to safeguard the district's religious, social and cultural harmony in the wake of recent incidents in Sunsari and other districts. The commitment was made at an all-party meeting held at the District Coordination Committee office, where representatives agreed not to allow the impact of disturbances in Sunsari, Siraha and Dhanusha to spill over into Rautahat. According to a decision issued after the meeting, participants resolved not to tolerate any activity that could incite religious or communal discord and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the district's long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence and social harmony. The meeting appealed to political parties, elected representatives, local governments, religious leaders, civil society, media, business communities and the public to work together to maintain peace and security. Participants further agreed to encourage citizens to uphold religious tolerance, mutual respect and social unity through their respective organisations and communities. Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal said the meeting had committed to making Rautahat a model district for religious, social and cultural tolerance through collective efforts involving all stakeholders. The meeting, chaired by District Coordination Committee Chief Ram Ayodhya Yadav, was attended by security officials, representatives of political parties, religious leaders, civil society members and journalists.
