HETAUDA, AUGUST 5 A woman who was injured after being swept away by a swollen stream while crossing it in Makwanpur district has died during treatment, police said. The deceased has been identified as Tara Bholan, 41, of Bakaiya Rural Municipality-4. According to police, Bholan and Sunmaya Waiwa, 50, of the same locality were on their way to a milk collection centre at around 9:30 am on Monday when a sudden surge in the Chiruwa Stream swept them away. The two women were carried about 200 metres downstream and sustained injuries. They were initially taken to Bakaiya Basic Hospital, where they received first aid. Police said both had injuries to their limbs and back but were conscious and able to speak after the incident. DSP Madhav Kafle, spokesperson for Makwanpur Police, said Bholan was discharged after initial treatment but her health deteriorated on Tuesday afternoon. She was rushed to CMC Chure Hill Hospital in Hetauda, where she died during treatment. Waiwa has returned home after treatment. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
