KATHMANDU The bodies of Kili Pemba Sherpa (Kilu), Nima Sherpa and Gyaljen Sherpa (Gyalu), who lost their lives in the Broad Peak avalanche in Pakistan on July 30, arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday. All three were veteran high-altitude Nepali climbers. Kilu had summited all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks, while Gyalu held a Guinness World Record for summiting Mt Kanchenjunga three times in a single season. Nima was an elite high-altitude professional and one of Nepal's senior expedition guides. They were among the 10 climbers who lost their lives in the avalanche. The body of another Nepali climber, Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), arrived last week, while that of Nawang Thendu Sherpa remains unrecovered. Grieving families and members of the mountaineering community gathered at the Tribhuvan Internatioanl Airport (TIA) to mourn them.
