KATHMANDU, AUGUST 16 Three people have died and two others remain missing after a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall struck Risang in Bheri Municipality-2 of Jajarkot. The deceased have been identified as 52-year-old Kedar Karki, who died while undergoing treatment at Medical College Kohalpur, and 54-year-old Uma Singh Khatri and 83-year-old Rati Khatri, whose bodies were recovered from the landslide site, according to Armed Police Force spokesperson Shailendra Thapa. Seventy-year-old Bhami Bahadur Karki of Chisapani and 14-year-old Haris BK of Gairigaun remain missing. Seven others injured in the landslide are receiving treatment. They include Ram Bahadur Shahi, 62; Siddhibahadur Kami, 45; Kamala Karki, 58; Anita Karki, 23; Yunis Shahi, 10; Suntali Chadara, 45; and Bhadrakala Karki, 61. Ram Bahadur and Bhadrakala are in critical condition and have been referred to Nepalgunj and Surkhet for treatment. A joint search-and-rescue team comprising the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force personnel trained in disaster management and Nepal Police was deployed to the site on Sunday morning to search for the missing people. The landslide has damaged eight houses, according to authorities.
