KATHMANDU, AUGUST 17 A decades-old Nepal-India military tradition was renewed on Monday as President Ramchandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army on Indian Army Chief Dhiraj Seth. The insignia was presented to Seth at a special ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office, during his three-day visit to Nepal. The honorary rank is conferred on the army chiefs of the two countries under a tradition that Nepal and India have maintained since 1950. Seth arrived in Nepal on Sunday. Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, senior officials of the Nepal government and Nepali Army, and the Indian ambassador to Nepal attended the ceremony.
