RAUTAHAT, AUGUST 18 More than 100 patients with high fever are seeking treatment at Gaur Provincial Hospital every day, as viral fever cases continue to rise across Rautahat. Pankaj Thakur, public health inspector at the hospital, said patients from different age groups have been arriving with high fever, with children and elderly people appearing to be more affected. Most patients have recorded temperatures of 101–103 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, Thakur said. Viral fever symptoms can persist for 48 to 72 hours, and patients with high fever have been advised to seek medical care rather than delay treatment. The hospital has been conducting necessary tests and keeping patients under medical supervision. Most patients recover after treatment and return home, according to Thakur. The increase in cases is not limited to Gaur Provincial Hospital. Other government and private hospitals and health facilities in the district are also receiving patients with viral fever, indicating that infections are increasing across the district. Health workers have advised people to avoid excessive heat and direct sunlight, get adequate rest, and consume safe food and drinking water. They have also recommended limiting excessive consumption of very cold items and avoiding self-medication without medical advice. Common symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, runny nose and weakness. People experiencing such symptoms have been advised to seek medical attention promptly and maintain personal hygiene and other precautions to prevent the infection from spreading to family members.
