KATHMANDU, AUGUST 29 'We only want information about our son.' That is the plea of the family of 28-year-old Abhishek Ghone, a resident of Kalyan in Maharashtra, India, who has been missing since flash floods swept parts of Nepal on Wednesday. Abhishek had arrived in Kathmandu on August 24 for a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage and last spoke to his family late Tuesday night. He told them that his group would begin its journey early the following morning. The family has not heard from him since. According to a PTI report, Abhishek works for a travel booking portal and had been planning the pilgrimage for a long time. His father said the family had approached authorities but had yet to receive concrete information about his whereabouts. In their search for answers, one of Abhishek's friends used artificial intelligence tools to try to determine his location. The tools suggested that he could be in a safe area, but the family said it did not want to rely on unverified information. 'The information may not be authentic, and we want the authorities to provide verified updates,' his father said, according to PTI. The family said the tour operator organising the pilgrimage was travelling with 70 to 80 pilgrims from different parts of India, who were spread across five vehicles when the disaster struck. The flash floods, which originated in Tibet, swept through parts of central Nepal on Wednesday, causing widespread destruction, damaging infrastructure and affecting several districts. The family said its only concern was to establish what had happened to Abhishek. 'We are not angry with the administration or upset. We only want information about our son,' his father told PTI, appealing to authorities to trace him and provide an update on his condition. According to PTI, four people from the Kalyan-Dombivli region have been reported missing in Nepal following the flash floods.
