KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 6 The Bhotekoshi flood has damaged 55 drinking water projects across four districts, with preliminary losses estimated at Rs 640 million, adding to the disruption caused by the disaster. Damage has been reported in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha, with Nuwakot emerging as the worst affected, suffering Rs 41 million in damage to 22 projects. The Water Supply and Sewerage Management Department is assessing the damage while working to restore supplies. As an immediate measure, a 100 KVA diesel generator has been deployed to the Bidur Water Supply Project, enabling distribution of about 500,000 litres of water daily. Seven pumps have been installed to restore services to around 500 households in Battar, while coordination with Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) is underway to supply water to other settlements via tankers. Materials including pumps and HDPE pipes have been prepared to extend services to Trishuli Bazaar and Belkotgadhi.
