KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 9 Police have seized more than 1.24 tonnes of marijuana from a truck in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-7 of Dhankuta district. A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force stopped the truck, bearing registration number Na 4 Kha 527, for inspection at around 11 pm on Wednesday along the Koshi Highway, police said. The truck was travelling from Dhankuta towards Bhedetar when its driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled as the security personnel attempted to stop it for checking. The inspection team became suspicious of the vehicle and searched it, finding 1,240.6 kilograms of marijuana concealed inside the truck. Police have launched a search for the absconding driver and are conducting further investigation into the case, according to Nepal Police.
