KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 17 Heavy rainfall is possible in parts of four provinces on Thursday as monsoon winds continue to influence Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The division has forecast heavy rain at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at several places across the country. The Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim may receive light to moderate rain or snowfall with thunderstorms. Similar conditions are possible at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Karnali Province. In the hills, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at some places. Parts of the Terai in Sudurpashchim, along with a few places in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, may also receive rain and thunderstorms. The country is expected to remain generally cloudy tonight. Rain or snowfall is likely at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, and at one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim. The division has forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in parts of the hills of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, as well as at one or two places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim. Some areas of Madhesh and the Terai in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim may also receive rain. The division said Nepal is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with partial influence of westerly winds. The monsoon trough is located south of its normal position. Kathmandu is expected to record a maximum temperature of 27–29°C today, with a 40% chance of rain, and a minimum of 19–21°C tonight. Pokhara may see moderate rain with thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 28–30°C during the day and 21–23°C at night. Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa and other western cities have also been forecast to receive rain and thunderstorms.
