KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 20 Sajha Yatayat is expanding its night‑time public transport service in Kathmandu Valley, deploying 28 electric buses across six routes from Saturday. The expansion, timed with Constitution Day, quadruples the existing service that currently runs on two routes with seven buses. CEO Bhupendra Aryal said the night service began on April 14 with the Nagdhunga–Airport and Lagankhel–Budhanilkantha routes. Under the new plan, six buses will operate on the Budhanilkantha–Godawari route, six on the Jagati–Ratnapark–Thamel route, four on the Airport–Nagdhunga route, and four on the Kirtipur–Jamal route. Eight buses will serve both directions along the Ring Road. The existing Nagdhunga–Airport and Lagankhel–Budhanilkantha services will continue with four and three buses, respectively. Departures are scheduled between 8pm and 11pm, with adjustments possible based on passenger demand. Sajha Yatayat said the expansion addresses growing demand for public transport at night, benefiting late‑night workers, students, health professionals, and security personnel. The use of electric buses is also expected to help reduce emissions in the Valley.
