KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27 Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces and in the Terai areas of Madhesh and Bagmati provinces today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The department has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country, with moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning likely at many places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Sudurpashchim Province, and at some places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is also expected at many places in the Sudurpashchim Tarai and at some places in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Meteorologists have also warned of gusty winds at a few locations in the Terai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim. According to the department, weather conditions are currently being influenced by monsoon winds, westerly winds and a well-marked low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh, India, while the monsoon trough is positioned near its normal location. In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures expected to range between 24°C and 26°C during the day and 17°C to 19°C at night. Pokhara is expected to record temperatures of 23–25°C, while Jomsom is forecast to remain significantly cooler at 11–13°C. Rain and thunderstorms are also likely in major cities including Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Janakpur. The department has advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert for localized flooding, landslides and weather-related disruptions as rainfall activity continues across much of the country.
