KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27 The Nepali Army has continued search, rescue and evacuation operations in districts affected by floods, landslides and inundation triggered by continuous rainfall across the country. In Parbat, personnel from the New Ranabhim Battalion have been deployed to help residents evacuate and move belongings to safer locations after the Kali Gandaki River entered settlements and swept away houses in Pharse of Jaljala Rural Municipality-8. In Nawalparasi East, troops from the No. 2 Forest and Environment Protection Battalion are evacuating residents from Bhutaha in Madhyabindu Municipality-2 due to rising water levels in the Narayani River. Army personnel stationed at the Gorakh Dal Battalion security base in Triveni are also carrying out evacuation work in Susta Rural Municipality-5. In Palpa, soldiers from The Famous Mahindra Dal Battalion have been mobilised for search and rescue efforts in Lendi, Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-3, where a landslide is reported to have buried a house. Similarly, troops from Naya Sabuj Battalion have been deployed in Devghat and Barhaghare of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan to assist with evacuations as the Narayani River continues to rise above warning thresholds. Army personnel have also been deployed in Aapgachhi of Mithila Municipality-11, Dhanusha, where search and rescue efforts are underway after a landslide reportedly buried a house. Meanwhile, the Prithvi Highway at Ghansikuwa in Byas Municipality-12, Tanahun, has been reopened after personnel from Kalibhanjan Battalion, working in coordination with local authorities, cleared landslide debris and mud from the roadway. Authorities have said rescue, evacuation and road-clearing operations will continue as heavy rainfall and elevated river levels persist across several parts of the country.
