KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27 The Narayangadh-Muglin road has reopened after workers cleared a mudslide that had blocked the Namshi Khola bridge amid continuous rainfall. Vehicles and freight carriers travelling between Narayangadh and Pokhara resumed movement at 12:15 pm on Sunday, according to the Road Division Office, Chitwan. The mudslide had blocked the road at around 7:55 am. Meanwhile, 11 landslide-hit locations along the Malekhu-Muglin section of the Prithvi Highway remain obstructed. Sachindra Mishra, information officer of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project's western section, said landslides involving mud, rocks and fallen trees had blocked several stretches. At Shitalbazar, a mudslide and trees had fallen onto the road, while the roadside had also subsided. The road near Gomatikhola, close to Benighat Bazaar, is operating one-way due to a mudslide. The road at Krishnabhir has been blocked by debris from above. Landslides involving rocks and mud have also obstructed the road at Jamireghat and Chaukibhir, while smaller landslides have occurred at several points between Hugdi Khola and Jawang Khola. Around 200 metres of road at three locations near Fishling have been covered by rocks, mud and fallen trees. At Chumlingtar, a landslide has deposited rocks on the road, while about half of the road has collapsed over a combined stretch of around 50 metres at two locations in Dharapani. Work is also underway to clear a blocked culvert. Large rocks and mudslides have obstructed the road at Ghoptebhir and Simaldhara. Mishra said clearance work was underway at all affected locations and traffic could resume by evening if no major new landslides occurred.
