GAIGHAT, OCTOBER 4 Police in Udayapur have arrested a 30-year-old man on charges of possessing 6.2 grams of brown sugar allegedly concealed on his body while travelling on a passenger bus. The suspect has been identified as Pradip Basnet, a resident of Ghumneka, in Belaka Municipality-5, police said. According to police, Basnet was arrested on September 30 during a security check. The suspected narcotic substance was recovered the following morning after police conducted further verification procedures. Police said the brown sugar had been wrapped in plastic and concealed on the suspect's body. The substance weighed 6.2 grams. The arrest was made public on Sunday, two days after the recovery of the narcotic substance. Basnet has been remanded in custody at the District Police Office, Udayapur, after police obtained permission from the Udayapur District Court to continue the investigation. Police said further investigation into the case is underway under laws related to narcotic drug control.
