Rain, snowfall likely in several parts of country

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 5 Moderate rain and snowfall are likely at a few places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces on Monday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Light rain and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, with moderate rain expected at a few places in their hilly areas. Moderate rain is also likely at a few places in Madhesh and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, and at one or two places in Sudurpashchim. Tonight, light rain and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. Moderate rain is expected at a few places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, as well as in Madhesh and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. The department said western winds are influencing Karnali and Sudurpashchim and the western parts of Gandaki and Lumbini, while monsoon winds are affecting Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati and the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini, with partial influence of westerly winds. Kathmandu is expected to record a maximum temperature of 27–29°C with a 30 percent chance of rain, while Pokhara is forecast to reach 28–30°C with a 40 percent chance of moderate rain and thundershowers. Janakpur is expected to be the warmest among the listed cities, with a maximum of 34–36°C. At night, minimum temperatures are forecast to range from 8–10°C in Jomsom to 24–26°C in Dharan.
