India-funded school building inaugurated in Morang

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7 A new school building constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India was inaugurated at Shree Panchayat Secondary School in Sundarharaincha Municipality-7, Gothgaun, Morang, on Tuesday. The building was jointly inaugurated by Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu Narayan Singh and Sundarharaincha Municipality Mayor Kedar Prasad Guragain. The project was implemented through Sundarharaincha Municipality under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) programme. According to a press release issued by the Embassy of India, the new infrastructure is expected to improve the learning environment for students and teachers at the school. The release said 605 HICDP projects have been undertaken by the Government of India across all seven provinces and 74 districts of Nepal since the programme began. Of these, 103 projects are in Koshi Province, including 17 in Morang district. The Indian government has also provided 150 ambulances and 62 school buses to institutions working in Nepal's health and education sectors in Koshi Province, according to the release. Of these, 21 ambulances and 17 school buses were provided to institutions in Morang. The Embassy said HICDP projects form part of India-Nepal cooperation in infrastructure and other priority sectors and support Nepal's development efforts.
