Three teams open Asian Paints Champions Cup national stage with wins

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9 Sagarmatha Secondary Boarding School of Lumbini, Shree Jeewan Jyoti of Sudurpashchim and Jana Jyoti Secondary School of Madhesh opened their campaigns with victories as the national championship stage of the Asian Paints Champions Cup 2026 began on Thursday. In the Under-18 boys' Group B match, Sagarmatha defeated Gurukul Vidya Sadan of Gandaki 4-3 in a seven-goal contest. Shree Jeewan Jyoti recorded the biggest win of the opening day, beating Kanti Ma Vi of Lumbini 5-0 in the Under-18 girls' Group A fixture. In another girls' match, Jana Jyoti Secondary School defeated Venus National College of Bagmati 2-0 in Group B to secure three points without conceding a goal. Organised by The Himalayan Times, the All Nepal Inter-School Football Tournament brings together provincial champions to compete for the national title. The group-stage matches will continue as teams vie for places in the finals, scheduled to be held at Dasharath Stadium on October 12.
