KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 11 Scattered rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely across the Himalayan and hilly regions of several provinces on Sunday, while most parts of the Terai are expected to remain mainly clear, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The division said partly cloudy conditions will prevail in the Himalayan and hilly regions, while the Terai is expected to remain largely clear. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely at a few places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. One or two locations in the corresponding areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces may also receive moderate rainfall. In Kathmandu Valley, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is forecast, with the daytime temperature expected to range between 25°C and 27°C. Night temperatures are forecast at 15°C to 17°C under partly cloudy conditions. Jumla and Dadeldhura are expected to receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, while light rain and thunderstorms are likely in Pokhara, Birendranagar, Ghorahi, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri and Taplejung. In the southern plains, temperatures are expected to reach 32°C to 34°C in Bhairahawa, Simara and Janakpur. Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj are forecast to record maximum temperatures of 31°C to 33°C. For Sunday night, partly cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan and hilly regions. The division said light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces. According to the department, the current weather pattern is being influenced by a westerly low-pressure system combined with monsoon winds. The department has advised people in areas likely to receive rainfall and thunderstorms to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during outdoor activities.
